To Do Lists

I usually consider myself pretty organized, maybe that is why I can’t relax, constantly straightening up, constantly trying to do away with clutter, dust, stains, and dirt. It is a hard life to lead! So today, I had my list of items to do: 1) Fold clothes in dryer, 2) vacuum, 3) Staples run, 4) wash more clothes.
Ok, so I think I can take a few minutes to read, sure I can do that before I get started. Meanwhile, there is a tiny knock on the door, a friend of my sons (love him because that is what keeps my son occupied in the first place), and this leads to my son needing pants (because all of a sudden, it is too cold to wear what he has been wearing), leads to "do you know the Lowe's thing is today" (Lowes once-a-month free craft class for children), leads to me looking for it online. Meanwhile, I look for some jeans for him in bins shoved somewhere in the knee wall attic. I find only a few from last year, but I do find my fall/winter clothes, which leads me to realize I’ve got to change my closet over and put away my summer stuff (*add to list). But guess who has forgotten that he wanted me to find jeans in the first place (says he’s good). Oh, yeah, he needs clean socks too -- remember to add to list. He is happily playing outside now and now I’ve got to take action on that list.
If you ever read, “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie", by Laura Numeroff, you would swear she was a mother. When I read this, I’m the child who is constantly running all over the place, project to project, looking for that, shopping for this (searching, thinking about: where, when, how (because he needs it now – LOL); and in the end, you are back to the beginning. Now I’m up to how many items on my to do list?
